What You Name, You Frame
Scripture
Genesis 2:19 KJV
"And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof."
Romans 4:17 KJV
"(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were."
Daily Big Idea
Once you're awake, you're not just aware. You're authorized. And dominion is exercised with your mouth.
Revelation
God gave man dominion in the beginning (Genesis 1:26). The Hebrew word is radah: to rule, to tread down. Not permission to visit the earth. Authority to govern it. Watch how Adam used it. God brought every creature to Adam "to see what he would call them," and whatever Adam called it, that was its name. Adam's dominion was exercised with the word of his mouth. Whatever you call it becomes its identity and its character. Abraham learned it from God Himself: God "calleth those things which be not as though they were." That's dreaming with authority. You let the Word establish the picture and the promise, then you call it the way God calls it. In a lucid dream, the dreamer changes the scene by awareness. In God's dream, you change the scene with your mouth.
Key Statement
What you name, you frame.
ACE Application
ALIGN: Find what God calls your situation in His Word, and agree with Him.
CONSECRATE: Stop calling it by its old name. Retire the labels that don't match God's dream.
EXCEL: Call those things which be not as though they were, out loud, every time it comes up today.
Faith Action
Find one scripture that covers the area on your Reality Check card and write it out in full. Then do a renaming: write what you've been calling your situation ("broke," "stuck," "always sick," "never going to change"), cross it out, and write what God calls it, straight from that scripture. Say the new name out loud three times today.
Prayer
Father, in Jesus' name, thank You for giving me dominion. Just as Adam named what You brought him, I name my situation by Your Word. Forgive me for every name I gave it that agreed with the problem. You call those things which be not as though they were, and I'm made in Your image. I let Your Word establish the picture and the promise, and I call it what You call it. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Faith Confession
God gave me dominion, and I govern with my words.
I don't call my situation what it looks like. I call it what God says.
I call those things which be not as though they were.
I let the Word establish the picture and the promise.
What I name, I frame, and I name it by the Word of God. In Jesus' name.
